In Praise of… Catch 22

How have I crawled through life without reading this book?

It’s brilliant.

I pause at this paragraph break to try and find more elaborate words to describe it.  I suspect, if I was a critic, this would be an opportunity to talk about its message (war bad) it’s structure (complex and enthralling) it’s characters (fantastic and convincing all at the same time) its setting (WW2) and its context (U.S. bomber pilots on the verge of going mad).  And look!  That job is done, which leads me back to original thought the first…

… it’s a fantastic novel.

Go read.
